Australia Defeat Pumas in World Cup Opener
10/10/2003

The World Cup hosts Australia beat potential Quarter Final contenders, Argentina, 24-8 in the opening game of the tournament. The Wallabies outscored the Pumas two tries to one in front of an 83,000 crowd at Sydney's Telstra Stadium, Wendell Sailor and Joe Roff touching down.

There was a set-back for the Australian's though with key line-out jumper David Giffin stretchered off with concussion, which could keep him out of the next three weeks of the tournament.

FULL MATCH coverage is now available. Plus both half match highlights and post match interviews.
