Three second half tries carried Fiji to a comfortable victory over Japan in Townsville, after there had been just 3 points between the sides at half-time.
The tries came from Aisea Tuilevu, Norman Ligairi and Marika Vunibaka, with Nicky Little adding two conversions and two penalties, as Fiji scored 25 points without reply in the second half.
13 points from Andrew Little, from a try, conversion, penalty and dropped goal had kept Japan in contention at half-time, with Ligairi and Tuilevu having scored tries for Fiji and Little and Waisale Serevi kicking penalties.
