USA win thriller against Japan.
27/10/03.

The USA recorded their first Rugby World Cup win since 1987 when they beat Japan in a 7 try thriller in Gosford.

With just four minutes to go the Americans were clinging to a one point lead, but late tries by Riaan Van Zyl and Kirk Khasigian made the game safe for The Eagles.

Their other tries came from Mike Hercus, Phillip Eloff and Kort Schubert, with Hercus adding 4 conversions and two penalties.

The Japanese replied with tries by Toru Kurihara and Daisuke Ohata. Kurihara converted both and kicked four penalties.

Full-time highlights are now available together with post match reaction from both teams.
