Fabulous French fly into final four.
9/11/03.

A brilliant performance by France swept aside Ireland in the quarter-final in Melbourne and served notice that the French are real contenders for the Webb Ellis Cup.

A combination of physique and flair brought France four tries with Frederic Michalak adding 23 points with the boot.

The tries came from Olivier Magne, Christophe Dominici, Imanol Harinordoquy and Jean Jacques Crenca. All four were converted by Frederic Michalak, who added five penalties.

Despite trailing by 27 points at half-time, the Irish never gave up and were rewarded with second half tries by centres Kevin Maggs and Brian O'Driscoll, who crossed twice, with David Humprhreys adding the conversions.
