Scotland beat  Japan by 32 points to 11.
13/10/03

Scotland finally wore down superb Japanese defence to win by 32 points to 11 in Townsville. A five try to one count earned the Scots a bonus point.

The Scots led 15-6 at half-time, thanks to tries by Chris Paterson and Stuart Grimes. Paterson converted his own try and added a penalty, with Keiji Hirose kicking two penalties for Japan.

A try by Hirotoki Onozawa narrowed the gap to just 4 points, but as the Japanese tired further tries by Paterson, Simon Taylor and Simon Danielli took the Scots to victory, with Gregor Townsend adding one conversion.
