1999 and the Rugby World Cup was again spread over the Five Nations with Wales as main hosts.

The most memorable match of the tournament, of course, was the semi-final between New Zealand and France. The French went into the match as the underdogs and stunned the world as the New Zealanders never found their feet and France went on to achieve the unthinkable -  a 43-31 victory.

South Africa beat New Zealand 22-18 in a third-place play-off. Australia went on to be crowned world champions after beating France 35-12.
