Melbourne Airport has direct flights from all bar three – Gosford, Wollongong and Townsville – Rugby World Cup 2003 host cities with Adelaide, Canberra, Sydney and Launceston around an hour away, Brisbane two hours and Perth four hours.

The only direct trains to Melbourne are from Sydney and Adelaide with journey times of 10 and 12 hours. To travel from Perth you change at Adelaide, from Townsville at Brisbane and Sydney and from other destinations simply at Sydney.

Driving to Melbourne from Adelaide, Canberra and Sydney will take around 10 hours, Brisbane closer to 25 hours with Perth and Townsville a two day journey.
