Tom Billups (USA) - Coach
On the effort of the USA players:
"I'm very proud of my boys. They played with a lot of ferocity and I can't say enough about the effort."
On the upcoming games:
"We're going (to) throw the kitchen sink at every one of our opponents, and honour the game of rugby."
David Hodges (USA) - Captain
On his players:
"It was a good effort from all the players. We were very, very disappointed, but came out with a good game."
On the game itself:
"No one in the world of rugby gave us a chance, but we came out with a good game."
On Fiji:
"They throw the ball around a lot ... it is difficult to defend."
On the game plan:
"Just to penetrate from the get-go."
On Fiji's second half fightback:
"We gave them a little more of a fractured field ... we talked about not giving them the ball with turnovers and loose kicks, and that's kinda what we did."
On the plan to disrupt the Fijian play:
"To get among them in the first phase, and try and crack them. We got a bit of that, but they stole a bit of our ball in the second half."
Mac McCallion (FIJ) - coach
On Fijii's 19-18 victory over the United States of America:
"It was certainly a hard game. We experienced a very tenacious US side. I think we were lucky to get away with the win. If they had a little bit more skill, we'd have been in trouble."
"I think we were a bit flat today."
On Fiji's poor lineouts:
"We had a lot more lineouts than the US did. We lost a few, but I'd have to say the three or four tall guys on the US side were outstanding athletes. They outshone our boys, but it's certainly an area we'll work on."
Alifereti Doviverata (FIJ) - Captain
On the win:
"We came into this game with the chips down after the first loss on Saturday, but a win is a win for us and we're happy about that and we look forward to the next game."
On what Fiji expected from the USA:
"We knew from the start that they would come hard at us, we've met them a few times before and they were a tough side."
On what the message was in the Fiji dressing room at half time:
"In the dressing room, the message was ball retention, the message was just to keep the ball and keep recycling it and get a few phases."
On the win:
"The win was good for us after the first loss to France."
On what was said in the dressing room at half time:
"We needed ball retention ... we needed to keep the ball and keep recycling it and it (the game) would come."
Moses Raulini (Fij) Scrumhalf
On the game being in Brisbane:
"It was like a home-town game with all that crowd support."
On the win:
"The boys were pretty bruised from that last game (against France) and it took a while to wake up ... the boys underestimated the USA."
On their upcoming game:
"Every game is like our Grand Final now because we lost to France."
