Matt Burke has been cleared of serious damage to his right knee after being forced from the field during the second half of Australia's final Pool A match against Ireland at Telstra Dome in Melbourne on Saturday night.
The Wallabies centre had an MRI scan today which revealed only bruising of his patella tendon.
"We just have to assess that over the next couple of days," Wallabies coach Eddie Jones told a press conference.
If Burke is ruled out of Australia's quarter final against Scotland at Brisbane's Suncorp Stadium on Saturday, 8 November, he would most likely be replaced by Stirling Mortlock.
Jones said Mortlock would be considered for selection in the quarter final, even though he played in only two of Australia's four Pool matches, against Romania and Namibia.
