France's Serge Betsen has been suspended from all rugby for six weeks for kicking an opponent during the England v France RWC 2003 semi final.
The citing complaint against Betsen for kicking an opponent in the head was upheld by the Judicial Officer. However, he accepted it was not deliberate but represented a reckless act.
Having taken account of the IRB recommended sanctions and a number of mitigating factors, including a letter of apology to Matt Dawson that there had been no intention to hurt or injure and the representations made as to the players previous good record, the Judicial Officer imposed a sanction of six weeks suspension from all rugby from 17 November concluding on the 29 December 2003.
The full decision will be available tomorrow.
Citing Commissioner: Mr. Douglas Hunter (Scotland)
