Tana Umaga may not be in the New Zealand team to face Wales at Telstra Stadium tonight, but the injured centre will still have his moment in the spotlight.
For Umaga, who has been sidelined since rupturing the posterior cruciate ligament in his left knee against Italy on 11 October, will be presented with a figurine of himself in recognition of his sportsmanship.
The centre, according to the New Zealand Rugby Football Union newsletter, will receive a 10 inch porcelain figurine from Welsh Rugby Union Chairman David Pickering at the post match reception.
Umaga was the first player to react when, in the last meeting of the two sides in Hamilton in June, Welsh captain Colin Charvis was knocked out in a tackle by All Black forward Jerry Collins.
He stopped playing, despite New Zealand having the advantage, and checked on Charvis, making sure the Welsh forward had not swallowed his tongue before placing him in the recovery position.
"We felt we had to mark Tana's outstanding display of sportsmanship and Sunday's game gives us the perfect opportunity to honour him," Pickering said.
